narrative

I was a Visual Editor for Scalawag Magazine, an abolitionist social movement journalism magazine. This time of my work heavily inspired me into far more documentary arts, as I read and visualized many stories of everyday socio-political struggles inside prisons and around Southern communities. I would take these tools to personal projects.

Scalawag Magazine’s flagship publication is Abolition Week (AW). AW is a series of articles themed around a particular political concept and spans a week of publication. This particular theme, for example, would be “Empire”, and articles would be submitted analyzing the nature of the United States as an empire across the globe.
